The Association for Clinical and Translational Science awarded Diana Farmer, M.D., distinguished professor and chair of the Department of Surgery, the prestigious Edward H. Ahrens, Jr. Award for Outstanding Achievement in Patient-Oriented Research. This award recognizes her first-of-its-kind work, which combines fetal surgery with stem cells to treat spina bifida.

UC Davis Health treated a patient with placental accreta and life-threatening bleeding following cesarean delivery. Seven emergency surgeries were completed over several days to save her life, which involved 24 surgeons and 36 anesthesia providers.

Woman Gets Life Back After Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Diagnosis
A patient with severe incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse came to UC Davis Health for a solution. Her treatment team, led by Stacey Wallach, M.D., chief of urogynecology, helped her regain function and independence following cystocele and rectocele surgical repair and the implantation of a sacral nerve neurostimulator.
