New Minimally Invasive Treatment for Peripheral Artery Disease
UC Davis Health vascular surgeons recently completed their first percutaneous transmural arterial bypass therapy using the DETOUR System. UC Davis is the first hospital in the Sacramento region to offer patients this minimally invasive treatment.

Using Virtual Reality to Treat Congenital Heart Defect in Adult
Our pediatric cardiology team utilized virtual reality to treat a patient who was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect despite being in her 60s. By using this technology, interventional cardiologist Frank Ing, M.D., chief of pediatric cardiology, found the best course of action to successfully redirect the patient’s two middle pulmonary veins.

Vascular Team Performs Aortic Repair with Newly Approved Device
Our vascular surgeons are among the first in the country to treat patients with thoracic aortic disease using a groundbreaking thoracic endovascular graft, called the Zenith Alpha® 2 Thoracic Endovascular Graft, which is known to improve outcomes. UC Davis Medical Center is the first hospital in Northern California to utilize this treatment.
