Fun, Friday Ask: Seeking work besties, local nonprofits and jaw-dropping photography

Occasionally, we keep things loose and fun by celebrating sillier holidays such as “National Bow Tie Day” or “World Beard Day.”

August features three “social holidays” that could be fun, and we’d like to invite staff members to participate.

August 15: Best Friends Day

Whether you were lucky enough to start working with your existing best friend, or a colleague became your best friend over time, we’d love to spotlight you and your BFF (that’s best friend forever). Send us a picture of you and your work bestie with a sentence or two about your friendship (i.e., how it started, why you two click so well, etc.), and we’ll put together a fun gallery on Aug. 15.

August 17: National Nonprofit Day

Did you know there are over 700 nonprofits in the Sacramento Region? For those who would love to get involved but aren’t sure where to start, this list could serve as a non-comprehensive list of options. If you’re passionate about a local nonprofit, let us know which one and why it means so much to you. We’ll share your passion, which might inspire colleagues to join you.

August 19: World Photography Day

In 2024, we created a photo gallery page of cool photographs by UC Davis Health photographer Wayne Tilcock and you!

We’d love to see more images shot by YOU so that we can update our gallery on Aug. 19 for World Photography Day.

Where to Submit

Please submit all photographs, quotes and information you’d like included in your submission to HS-InternalCommunications@health.ucdavis.edu. Confirm that anyone in the photo consents to having their picture published online. Also, ensure that if it is a picture on campus, no patients or identifiable patient information is displayed anywhere in the picture. Thank you!
